Improved Parameter Estimation from Noisy Time Series for Nonlinear Dynamical Systems
In this paper we consider the problem of estimating the parameters of a nonlinear dynamical system given a finite time series of observations that are contaminated by observational noise. The least squares method is a standard method for parameter estimation, but for nonlinear dynamical systems it is well known that the least squares method can result in biased estimates, especially when the no...
متن کاملReconstructing Dynamical Systems from Amplitude Measures of Spiky Time-Series
AND MOTIVATION Many examples exist in nature where the output of a dynamic system is a spiky time series. Well known examples of such systems include the Rössler system [1], which was developed to model the Earth’s magnetic field, the Hindmarsh-Rose [2, 3] system which has been proposed to model neuron membrane electrical activity, Chay-Keizer equations which model pancreatic cells, and many ot...
متن کاملClustering of Oscillating Dynamical Systems from Time Series Data Bases
The clustering of time series from oscillating dynamical systems requires appropriately selected features. We employed features stemming from methods of linear and nonlinear analysis of time series, such as autocorrelation and Lyapunov exponents, as well as features estimating oscillation characteristics. Optimal feature forward selection and standardization method, under the standard k-means c...
متن کاملAdditive nonparametric reconstruction of dynamical systems from time series.
We present a nonparametric way to retrieve an additive system of differential equations in embedding space from a single time series. These equations can be treated with dynamical systems theory and allow for long-term predictions. We apply our method to a modified chaotic Chua oscillator in order to demonstrate its potential.
متن کاملDynamical Radial Control of Nonlinear Systems
This paper is concerned with the stabilisation of a general class of nonlinear systems via the associated angular approach. In this method, the system is converted into two subsystems the so called radial and spherical systems. The spherical system is a nonlinear equation on a sphere and the radial system is a scalar differential equation. A stabilising control can be designed based on the one-...
